Ben said - "I built it in 2.5 weeks and it went out the day I finished it."

Check out the video URL below of the Omega on stage:

Here is the guitar:

Got this email from Ben today:
"Hi Randy,

How's it going? I hope you are doing well! I have been staying busy with building some Chafins and doing a lot of repairs (cash flow!).
The Electra trademark is still being reviewed by the Trademark Review Board. It is moving forward but they have a timetable that they have to follow.
I hope to hear something soon! I did build one for one of my endorsees, Matt LaPorte (attached). He plays with Jon Oliva's Pain (Savatage, Trans Siberian Orchestra).
They are doing the summer metal fests in Europe right now.
Here's a video.

Sorry the pics aren't better. I built it in 2.5 weeks and it went out the day I finished it. I didn't have my camera with me so I had to use my cell phone."

Take care,

Nice!! There's a family similarity with the Aria Pro II PE series there too, which is very cool!!

I was thinking the same thing. That neck joint looks very much like an Aria Pro II SE.....

Cool! :D

Good to see that he went with a stop tailpiece instead of a wraparound. The Headstock/Logo look almost identical, but everything else on this guitar is like nothing that SLM put out. He is apparently going for original models or interpretations, instead of reproductions or copies (which I think would be cool!!). I would guess that these will sell for 4 to 8 times what the vintage ones go for, so I'll have to admire them from afar...

He's got the 'Mountain of a Man' look down to a tee.

Last I checked Leslie West was still alive and rocking. He grew up a few miles from here.

Nice looking guitar there.

Can somebody tell me how and what the single knob controls? I'm used to having Vol and Tone knobs. (at least one of each) :toopid:

It's a single volume knob I would assume, ala Van Halen, circa 1978! The more I look at that guitar, it should have been called an Invicta, one and a half cutaway, setneck with non-active electronics. I'm wondering if that Semi on the wall in the first picture is a Maple Pro prototype..? No sound holes or vine inlay, and the pickup switch is on the top horn... but that could be a mean model.

Is there just one volume knob or did the other fall off? It looks like there is a pot witout a knob just below the volume knob.

I sent Ben an email request this morning for an explanation of the controls and switches and the lowdown on the pickups - but it came back as "Undeliverable" -

The Chafin Guitars web site is no longer accessible either;

Hopefully it's only a server issue?????

Will try again later .............
