He says the paint is not a pro job so it might come off easy
to reveal a shiny black or red.

I'm wondering what that push/pull knob does since it already has
the 5 way. Probably puts all p/ups in the circuit simultaneously.

You ever go down to a store like Home Depot, and somewhere behind the paint desk there's a whole section of faux finishes, fake marble, stuff like that... and you know how they always have a demo up on the wall, showing a red clay pot that's been half dipped in this fake stone paint, and not only does it have this ugly ersatz black and white speckle pattern reminiscent of the inside of a car trunk in the 60's... not only does it have a texture somewhere between shower non-slip patches and terminal acne... not only that, but it does all this in a plastic coating as thick as toothpaste?

This guitar has all of that. It sounds great. It feels like you're french-kissing a powder-coated lawn chair.

yeah, pics soon, when I dare. yeesh! I havent' figured out that push-pull yet, but I think it probably phase reverses the middle pup, we'll see. Right now the middle pup is running at half volume for some reason, gotta sort that one out.

Those are some funny comparisons you came up with, X189. Gave me a couple of chuckles. Good luck getting that "plastic stucco" layer off without hurting the guitar wood, or yourself!

Could be this is a XJ175JB, painted? Based on the pickup configuration, the color of the neck and the switch and cover plates. IF the push-pull switch is the last one and it's a 175JB the switch is a phase reverse for the bridge/mid, mid/neck pickups.
