the guy that called was named steve and he has worked there since 1982 and he remembers those basses. he actually had one but his was the dark color walnut and not natural like mine. he said it was possible that some were put out like mine but they dont keep records on anything like that. the guy that set mine up at the factory still works there and works for this steve guy. he said he was working on something for him right now and would tell him that i called and im still playing a bass with his name on it. i told him the serial number of mine and he said that even back then they didnt have a system for dating guitars by the numbers. mine should be a 1980 but the 60th annuversary wasnt until 1982. but he also said they started making those 60th commemorative models before 1982. pretty cool to talk with them and find out that some still work from when i got mine.
