I just purchased a very used black Electra Les Paul copy. It is very very beat up but it plays and sounds great. The truss rod cover says custom, I imagine this is a replacement because I have not seen a custom on any Electra page. This guitar does not have the modules either, it has 2 volume and 2 tone knobs and the neck middle bridge switch. I looked at the catalog on the Electra site and this guitar looks like the no.2242 Black Rock. Any information on replacement parts or where I can get the correct truss rod cover??

It could be a replacement, but I've seen several early-70's Electras with truss rods that read "Custom." As a matter of fact, my SG-style Electric Oak has one. I wouldn't assume that it isn't the correct cover.

Some others here may have more info.

My cherry flametop has "custom" on the truss rod cover, too.
Same thing regarding the vol and tone pots and p-up toggle.
The seller on ebay claims it's a lawsuit era matsumoku.
Either way, I love it. Not quite as heavy as a Gibson and at a grand less in price, to quote another Electra lover, if my house were on fire, it's the first thing i'd grab!
Recon it's the real mc coy? Angled Electra name with the split-diamond MOP logo on the "open book" style headstock.... sweet!
