The Electra Forums

I just saw what I'm almost certain is an Electra Super Magnum 2258 guitar on eBay. It had the vines-of-life inlay on the neck and the sculpted vines on the body. The body was a blonde oak color, and it had a glued on neck. Instead of the Electra tuners, it had Grover tuners. The headstock was the open-book design, and there was a small blue flower inlaid in the center of the headstock. But the Electra brand name was nowhere to be seen! Not that it was removed, but it was never there to begin with. Has anyone ever seen or purchased an Electra guitar that did not have its brand name somewhere on the headstock? Did they ever make them that way? If I decide to purchase this guitar, I want to be absolutely certain that it's an Electra, and not a copy.

Electra was not the only one to have these. I do believe you may find carved tops and inlay on some Aria Pro models? And it is not even certain that all the carving was done at one factory. Craftsmen travelled from one to another at times, so it is said.

If it doesn't say Electra, it's not an Electra, but it's one of many legitimate cousins, similar or identical models sold to other distributors with different names printed on the headstock, or sometimes none at all.

Univox had them too. I think I remember there being an Ibinez strat with carving.
