I can't find any reference as to body material in any of the Model Index descriptions. I've seen a couple of ebay sellers refer to them as Mahogany bodied, but somehow I doubt that.

Does anybody know what the material is?

I'm guessing Ash, but would like to be certain before I bid on one.

They vary because they're from different sources. Mahogany is very typical for bodes, the top varies- it's often laminate (plywood). But so are most LP style guitars by most makers.

If you want t look at what it's made of, pull one of the pickups, you can see a cross-section of the top and the wood uinderneath.

I'm lookin' at Electras on ebay though, so I can't physically inspect them. Just have to... "trust"... the seller. More likely, go by their feedback.

I did have an Electra, X175JB, 1983. I thought it compared very favorably with my Highway 1 Strat... for me, high praise indeed.

All my guitars have been stolen and my 1973 Martin D-18 and amps are with a long lost friend, so I'm building up my collection again.
