I went to my favorte used guitar shop a couple weeks ago and low and behold there was an X260N on the shelf. I have seen a number of the regular (walnut stained) X260s, but never the natural 260N with the maple neck and cream pickups. It was REALLY nice. I had NO MONEY. So a just went there yesterday again (money in hand) and made an offer and bought it. Yeah, he knows I am an Electra nut and cut me a deal on it. It is in EXCELLENT condition. The small plastic cover on the back of the 3-way switch even has the original protective plastic on it. There is a bit of 'belt buckling' on it and a little bit of wear on one spot of the maple neck finish - other than that, nearly perfect (Amazing since it probably is an 81 or around there - serial number starts with a 1?). The case is a brown rectangle with electra written on it, but not the big plastic rectangle - but a wooden box with some thin brown covering and gold "Electra" written on it. The case is beat to heck.

Anyhow, next question is going to be for a picture, but I don't have one yet. I will try to get one. But is really is NICE. My but that owns the store has known me for about 10 years and knows about the web site, so I think that might be why he sold it cheap. I really like it.

So, how much was your offer?
Seems like a righteous deal. :D

:hyper: Congrats on the find. I bought one new in 82 and kept it for over 20yrs. It was my favorite. The finish on those is beautiful natural ash. The maple neck is smooth and very fast and the coil tap gives a great strat sound as do the humbuckers. The humbuckers are as good clean as they are dirty. It has almost perfect balance when played. I am still looking for another one and I know how hard it is to find a nice one. You will enjoy it very much. Congratulations again.

Thanks all. I don't really want to say how much in this case, but I think considering the condition of it and the quality it was a good deal. I plan on keeping it if possible, but if my currently lousy finances don't improve I might have to consider moving it. If I was looking for one I would have paid a LOT more for it under normal financial conditions. I think my friend did me a favor!

I can't see not doing well on it (keeping it or selling it).

Yeah the Blonde X260's are pretty sweet, does yours have the setup sticker still? Not sure if they all got setup in St. Louis, but they are signed and dated by the SLM tech (Rene Lopez on mine).

Finding a near mint one is cool, but the 260n's 'age' like no other Electra. I was outbid on a incredibly beat up one on eBay over a year ago and I've been kicking myself ever since. The Fretboard was worn and discolored (ala a 50's Telecaster) and the body showed off the wear nicely, just a really cool guitar with authentic miles on it. Enjoy, Mike.

Not a good picture (taken with a flash inside, and the case is brown inside), but you get the general idea.

This is the nicest one of these I have seen by far. It is simply in amazing condition given its age. I think I am going to have to sell it.

I can't imagine why you'd sell it, in all honesty.

I know, I don't want to
and if it goes it will not be given away.

But I had over a thousand of unexpected bills lately, including the renewal of this website and hosting fees, some damage to my house, car, and minivan from an ice storm (minivan not covered, car and house have deductibles). I also had to redo a septic line in my nearly 50 year old house (had that old clay tile stuff that was full of roots). Just a lot of stuff at once.

I want to keep it and put some other stuff up for sale too on the gear page (including other guitars and parts and pedals and such). If enough other stuff goes, I will keep it.
