Well, I got this guitar in the mail today, and lo-and-behold, the guitar DOES have an Electra logo on it!

Plays, looks, and sounds great. Really solid guitar. Mid-range tone. Not to thick and not to thin. Overall, I'm pretty happy I decided to scoop it up. I've heard it said these were from '68-'69 range? Any body have any more input?

Wow,would have never guessed-the two globals I had were exactly identical,I mean exactly down to the tremolo, pickups, pickguard, etc. Wonder if there was some connection there somewhere in the early days? Very cool,PM me if your still interested in the 2259

I would dare to guess that it :hyper: :hyper: must be a very early PCM model maybe. I have never seen the open face tuners or the switches on any Electra I have come across. Congrats on a genuine score.

since no PCM catalogs exist, and we don't have any pre-72 SLM catalogs, it's really hard to say... there was definitely less of a quality gap between early SLM stuff and PCM stuff, but it was still there...

I beleive this to be EARLY SLM. probably the same vintage as the mystery LP jr that X189 picked up....
I had an Electra pbass that was SLM and way better than an equivalent PCM bass I had too...

I do think that that all the PCM's had the logo on a "plate", and not directly on the finish...

I am not suprised that this one is identical to a Global. Most Japanese manufacturers had some stock models that they branded as requested by the distributor. Durning the 60's and early 70's you frequently see brands such as Aria, Univox, Global, Pan etc. having identical guitars except for the name on the headstock.

A buddy of mine has a 'Trump' SG (I know, I've never heard of them either...) that looks identical to that except it only has one pickup. It's the kind of guitar that made me kinda cringe when I looked at it, but then I played it and the action was great, it really felt good, I ended up using it for about two hours one jam night. Epic Cheese man, good score.

P.S. that Carved SG is still under $400 with a day to go...

I decided that I am going to buy 'ozarkcannon's' 2259.

So, as fast as this was with me, I need money for recording. I'll let anyone here have first crack at it before it goes back on the bay. I paid $189.99 + $34.99 shipping on it, but will sell if for $200 SHIPPED to anyone from here.
