I just picked this up yesterday. I love it! Just like a regular SB-1000, but with a 6-bolt neck, with 2 hidden bolts.

I doubt it is a prototype. I suggest you post it over at the Matsumoku page http://www.matsumoku.org/ggboard/index.php

That looks like the same pup as the neck on my RSB, the nicest bass pup I have ever played.
