I am new to the site but not new to Electra's. As a Christmas gift from my mother, I was given a brand new X160BR Electra Phoenix back in 84'. At the time, I had no idea what the push pull pots did except for to change the sound some how. I was only 13 years old for God's sake! I also didn't realize that there were two 9v batteries hidden under a plate and when those went out, I thought the guitar was broken. at that time I was playing bass quite a bit and the guitar sat in its case for several years. fast forward to now, I decided to take it to a local repare shop to have it fixed, tuned and cleaned. The repair guy made me feel like an idiot when he showed me the ancient 9v batteries that he removed from the guitar. The guitar was in perfect condition, just needed to be cleaned up a little. Now, I have a hard time putting it down, especially now that I know and understand what the push/ pull pots do. Thanks for the site and I plan on tuning in frequently.

Mike

Welcome to the forums and thanks for the story. That is a fairly rare active Electra you have. I hope it serves you well again.

I'm jealous man. I'd wager that most guys first guitar wasn't a new one, and to get a active Phoenix in that rare Metalic Brown... just wow! The X160 is a rare bird, I'd say there were fewer of them made than the Laminated X150's, which fetch a pretty penny. It is one of the only Matsumoku's to sport that color, and only three of the 17 Phoenix models had the four knob/ two Volume control setup. Your mom had a good eye! I second the motion for some pics! Welcome aboard.

Have to agree with Iceman - sure would like to see some pics of that X160.

Welcome aboard -

Sidebar - does anyone have pics of an X160 - I looked in my Electra folder and it seems that I don't have any of that one.

Here are some photos of my X160 BR Sorry it took so long and foor the poor quality. The only thing missing is the bar which I probably lost 25 years ago. I have since fixed the bridge becuase I use medium to heavy strings.
