Thanks a lot guys! These pictures don't quite do it justice but it is a really slick machine :D

I appreciate the suggestions, will definitely try the tape before buying anything too expensive or labor intensive. Why teflon tape if you dont mind me asking? Will that be safer for the pieces and not leave any unwanted nasty-crap inside?
Definitely interested in bringing back some of the luster and smoothing out some of the little dings and scratches.

I did hear that they're making new Electra Phoenixes, they look pretty awesome!! a tad expensive but very very nice

Teflon tape because thats what it's made of! I use it on my wang bars rather than prat about with the tiny grubb screws that normally secure the bar....

The Wilkinson 5+1 bridge in black is a drop in replacement.

My recently acquired X195 has a broken bridge plate similar to the damage to yours right there by the screw under the low e-string. See my thread

Teflon tape in meant for going around threads and making them tighter.

hahaha thats pretty cool! funny ol world aint it?

will definitely post any changes I make to it and let you know how things go! haven't tried the teflon tape yet. Its honestly not hugely missed just cause I dont use it much, but it would be nice to have the option :)

PS my favorite thing about this guitar - the pickups. I can crank it and talk into them, like Claudio Sanchez and his wicked explorers, or dial in a real nice strat sound, or just fiddle around and make it totally different from anything else I own! Super cool, that cat who came up with this wiring is a genius!

Late to this party, but saw the Keywork on the control backplate and couldn't resist!

I bought the exact same guitar, a red X-185 a little over a year ago. It was definitely a different animal next to my older Phoenix X-140, but there's not a lot it can't do. The wiring layout really is one of the best ever conceived, and one I emulate in my custom jobs or re-wires whenever possible.

Glad to see you're enjoying it!

These take a 6mm bar, many bars are smaller than that. So if yours had a replacement that is smaller, it may not be stripped at all. 6MM threaded floyd rose replacements work, as do 6mm Japanese style bars. GFS parts has both styles of them in black.

But if your block IS stripped, PM me. It is VERY common for one of these to have the base plate crack and break at the trem screws when they are this old. Also I see yours is chipped on one corner in that area. If the base plate is cracked, you might as well replace the whole bridge. But if it is otherwise good, I had one that snapped the bassplate - you could probably use the parts off mine to fix yours. I wound up having to replace the bridge (a US-spaced black strat style bridge works - I and some others have use the Wilkinson or the Mightly Mite US-spaced bridges as replacements). But if your base is good, then you can use the block (and saddles for that matter) from mine. My block was good and a trem arm worked from what I recall. I don't have the arm. But I have the bridge carcass and I will dig it up. I hope I have not thrown it away, but probably not, I have learned my lesson doing that only to have something like this happen shortly after.
