 Post subject: Overwhelming weekend...

Hi Gang,

I just got back from a weekend with some Electra/Westone legends. I took a road trip to Indiana where I got to spend the weekend discussing guitar evolution, the Japanese invasion, and the current world market. In attendance was Ken "Doc" Nalasco (DRK here), Tim Harman of Westone marketing and research fame, Curt Trainer who was SLM's top sales rep who brought those cool guitars to our local dealers where we scooped them up with glee. Last but no way least was Tom Presley who many know through Electraman's killer site was the force behind the Electra thru to the Westone (US designed models) guitars.

What a weekend it was! I found out there is a lot I am going to have to re-write here in regards to manufactureres and what was made where. All that in time. It was a real treat being told the story of these guitars and the battles, thought, engineering, science, and passion that went into making them happen. There will almost definitely be more trips in the future, and something on the horizon that just may turn a few heads. A lot will be coming to light, and a lot of info finally available.

Tim is one of the best writers I've met (maybe some of you remember his Westone auction) and feels the story should be told clearly, concisely, and in complete. Likely it will either appear here or possibly in a new section on this domain. At this point I want Tim to steer since I'm just the lucky boy that get's the story from the horse's mouth.

One question I brought up while we were discussing the current market demands was what features knowing there are others like me that have the same passion for guitar design as it was while our faves were on top. I'm likely to put a poll up in the General Discussion forum to fish for preferences. I'm curious how many of us would opt for some of these more popular features to be re-introduced if offered.

I'll be posting more as time goes on, so keep tuned and if you're inclined, watch for the poll and add your 2 cents.
