Hey!

I just won an X-220 Omega and was wondering if anyone knows if they have the Super-Magnaflux pickups? I'm hoping so...

Thanks, Electraman!

I'm hoping they're Super-Magnaflux, as I'd like to have roughly the same signal coming out of both the X330 and X220. If the tone isn't appreciably better/different/ or have more sustain, I'll probably sell the 220 and just pick up another MPC model as my backup and for different module sounds. I'd really like a 340, but I haven't been able to find one when I could afford one yet...

Okay, back to work...

Got the X220 about a week ago. It's a really, really nice guitar. I expected basically a non-MPC version of my X330, but it feels a bit different. Seems like the neck is just a bit thinner and faster. I like the bigger trapezoid inlays, too -- does anyone know if these are real MOP? They don't look like abalone. It's pretty heavy, maybe 10+ lbs. The finish is in fantastic condition, with just a couple of little chips on the tip of the headstock. The nicest thing is that I won't have to have any of the frets trimmed or reseated, as I have with the X330 and the Electric Oak. Overall, it seems to be just a bit higher-quality construction than those guitars, but a step or two below the luxurious X410.

The only major bummer (in my eyes, anyway) -- these are definitely NOT Super-Magnaflux pickups. Although they look exactly the same as those on the X330, these are much lower output. They sound really good, actually, but I was hoping to be able to switch between the X220 and the X330 in the event of a broken string, etc.; not possible with this amount of output disparity. It wouldn't solve my problem, but I'm tempted to try mounting the X220 bridge pup in the X330... Smoother tone with MPC capabilities?

But I probably won't do that. Anyone willing to part with a Super-Magnaflux pup?

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend!

Matthew
