Do these model numbers (like X189, etc) actually appear anywhere on the guitars? Like, pencilled on the body under the covers or something... ?

I have found a model number pencilled on a paper sticker labelled 'SLM shop' but this sticker looks like it was added to guitars later when they were sent in for setting up, so it's not something they all have.

Or do you just have to look up the models and figure it out? I am thinking of the strat-bodied Electras and Westones which are so similar to each other.

...or is it a matter of identifying by color? Some of those odd colors, like my gold Phoenix, don't appear to have been on more than one model number.

agreed they are much the same guitar as it went through variations of detail, phoenix through spectrum. (i love em all :)

it appears that the x-numbers went beyond this body style. for instance, my westone monark is an X5.

does this number ever appear elsewhere on the guitar?

k, i see that the X135 has a nubmer plate attached to the back of the headstock. wish they all did...
