I recently aquired a Phoenix (X140 is the closest picture match). The guitar produces considerable hum and I was considering rewiring with a strat-style wiring kit. These kits use a 5 position strat switch which won't fit on the Phoenix pick guard (among other things). I thought if I was going to go thru that trouble I might also put in a piezo saddle pickup system (Fishman or LR Baggs) - again these come for strat/tele. The saddle mount on the Phoenix looks more like a Tele (four screws). But that mount won't work with the Phoenix pick guard either.

I'm open to any suggestions regarding reducing hum in the currrent electrics. I'd also be very interested in any solutions to using the strat/tele parts mentioned above with a custom pick guard (anyone out there done this?)

You may want to consider shielding before (or after) trying a more difficult mod. Here's a great resource on shielding:
