I recently inherited an Electra MPC guitar. I'm not sure what model it is; none of the models on the electra site match it exactly, it looks most like an X960 to me, but it has a carved top with sunburst paint on top, here are some pics:

head (sorry, its a bit out of focus)

It's my first guitar and it has been playing great, but I have a few questions about it. First off, it has a Filter Follower and Dynamic Fuzz module, the filter follower works great, but the dynamic fuzz is very unreliable, it occasionally works, but about as often as it works it puts out an extreemly loud screeching noise. Last night when I was playing it at about 1am in my room through my pre-amp and headphones I decided to clean up the module with an eraser and I put it in, and it was working, I was playing some AC/DC, but when I stopped I heard someone singing... I was confused as hell at this point, so I stopped to listen (it was very faint) and it was an R&B radio station I was hearing, then when I flicked the switch for the module off, it went away, when I put it back on, it came back, so I listened very carefully to hear what radio station it was (the song had ended), and then all of a sudden the screeching comes on, which scared the [Foul Language Used] out of me to say the least. Sometimes the module just doesnt work at all, does anyone have any suggestions about how to get it to work more reliably? Also, a quick unrelated question: what is the black toggle switch at the bottom of the guitar for?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I would like to be able to help you identify the guitar, but your links aren't working for me. Any idea why?

If the noise problem only happens with the Fuzz module, it's probably a minor short in the module. A few of the guys here have fixed them in the past. Hopefully one will chime in.

Tripod tends not to like people linking to their files, so I switched it to another host, it should work now

Definitely looks like an X930 to me. Less of a burst than normal, lookslike. I don't think all of them have the extra toggle; I would guess that that is a coil tap. If it makes the humbucker sound thin, like a tele sound, that would be a big clue in that direction.

It looks like it's in very nice condition. Congrats on having a pretty guitar!

Looks like an X935 Electra MPC to me; it should also have push / pull pots for in and out of phase switching ...............

Also - contact Thorny - (username);
Send him a PM;
He might know about this as he works on MPC modules ........
