 Post subject: x-110 rock strad?
PostPosted: Sat Jun 11, 2005 1:46 pm
Greetings!

This is my first time on this forum, and I have a question. I bought an Electra X-110 from a very reputable internet dealer. The guitar was listed as an X-110 Rock Strad. On the Electra Guitars website the Rock Strad pictured is different from my guitar. Mine has block inlays rather than the jet-wing inlays, has larger, brighter binding and has "Custom" written in script on the truss rod cover. The pickups look the same, the headstock is the "wave" style rather than the symmetrical style pictured, it's a bolt-on neck, but the finish on mine is a dark tobacco burst. The plate on the back of the head stock says "X-110". Are there X-110's that are not "Rock Strad" models?

Thanks!

It's probably a later year, like a 78 or 79. The Wave headstock replaced the open book style at that time. Different years of Electra guitars would see differences in trim such as you mention, but model numbers remained pretty consistent, so it is most likely a Rock Strad model or equivalent to one... though names like that did sometimes come and go even if the guitars didn't change much.
