Hello all,

I bought a Pantera X275, great bass and great sound, but I'm a bit worried about the tuning mechanism. It would seem that the string pressure is a bit too much, the top layer of the finishing is breaking up (see picture). Anyone recognize this problem and/or has a solution?

Unfortunately I witnessed my son drop his black Thunder 1A on its G tuner. The area under the post now has almost exactly the same damaged as on yours. I'm guessing the paint finish is under stress from the washer and when bumped gives rise to a spalling of finish in a semi circular pattern opposite to the hit.

All that said this excellent piece of kit has now become my main gigging bass(as well as his) cos she does not let up, stays in tune and takes some really very unpleasant abuse from an old man who should know better!!! The damage has had no obvious affect on its playability.

I wonder if at some time yours might have had a bit of a knock on the headstock?
