As I posted I bought the x810 from Shawn and I'm getting her back into shape.

The MPC module wood cover is warped and three chips in the finish. Not sure how but I think it would need to be put in a steam box and clamped back into shape. Chips were caused by finger nail opening the door. I all most did one also. If that can even be done? It's not that bad, but I'm a perfectionist. The guitar was so dry the frets are unseated and all of the inlay glue was raised and a few of the inlay. This was simple to correct using a razor blade as a scraper. The neck binding on the low E side is detached for about 2 inches. I'm hoping my guitar builder can reattach it, fill, and buff it so it can't be seen in the finish The MCP module and compartment were very oxidized and didn't work at all. I cleaned them up with cleaner and had to solder some of the jack wires. The grounds were broken causing noise problem. Works good now and there is no noise in the pots or components. The tail peace was very pitted. I've cleaned all of the gold parts using jewelers rouge and almost all of it is OK. One of the post for the tail piece is lose. Not sure if this will cause problems. The inside wood block seems to have separated from the back of the guitar. This is something that most people would never even look at. But I've been told that this is not uncommon with blocked 335s. Electra and most makers don’t use good wood or care much about parts that couldn't be seen. Like the internals.

Now for the positive stuff.

No checking anywhere.
Fret board in good shape no wood ware.
Electronics seem to be working good now.
Tone is awesome and switch is quiet.
Only two dings on the entire body and I think they can be corrected by a skilled guitar maker
The top of the guitar is flawless yea!
I think the neck binding is an easy one.
I think the dings can be filled and buffed.
The door and chips, well I'm hoping. lol
Pick-guard is cracked, but that’s and easy one to replace
Original case is great shape
Age or date of birth of the 810 11-28-78

All in all this will be awesome.



Shawn sold it to me for $450 and that included shipping and insurance. When I'm done I'll likely have about $300 to $400 more into it because of the frets and if there is any other gluing required. So if it comes to $800. Then I'm happy. The one I sold 15 years ago was a 9.5 and had a flanger also and I sold that for $650.

PS - there is one in England and the guy wants $1,156.27 plus shipping to US would be about $80.

That all sounds pretty fixable- serious, sure, but nothing that can't be put 100% right.

I'm not sure on the wood cover, I haven't dealt with one, but I would think of pressing it with a steam iron so you can get moisture to it without getting it wet, then pressing between some heavy things- something heavier and stiffer than books, like an anvil or something?
