I just traded a bass for an X260 Invicta

It's a little beat up and needs some replacement parts, but I'm liking it so far. :)

Can anyone tell me when it was made? The serial number on the back of the headstock's nice and big: 001345

Thanks and hello to all!

Thanks! I read on the main site on how to determine what year mine was possibly made and it looks like 1980. I'll take some pics of it soon next to my halfstack. 8)

I'd say it's january 1980. Or -possibly- pre-80, in which case number dating is fuxored. But didn't the Invicta come out in 1980? I don't remember.

How does it play?

Plays great! I need to adjust the intonation a tiny bit. The saddle isn't made for thick strings, but I like that my low E sits higher than normal on the first few frets.

I'll take some good pics if I can soon. My camera's not that good except when there's a lot of light.

I'm thinking about replacing the tuners in the future. If so, I'll donate em to whoever wants them. One of the tiny plastic rings around the tuner is broke, plus they adjust too coarse for me.

Cool- the thing to look for in tuners is to make sure the shaft diameter is right- most likely any modern style tuners will fit the (most likely) large modern size holes in your headstock. But do check that, it's the detail that can go wrong in tuner swaps- as you likely already know.

We'd love to see pics- and be sure to post them on the comments page for yout model as well!

Here's a pic for now. I want to fix it up some more before I post a pic on the comment page!

You better believe it!! I needed a 2nd guitar because I use two different tunings depending on the song. I intended the Electra to be the secondary, but it's my primary because it just plays so darn well compared to my Ibanez (and I love Ibanez RG's)

That's funny- it's like my original X189, which I got as an open tuned companion to my X185. For years I played them like that, and one day when I got out the X189 again, and tuned it normally, I realized it was really good, all this time I'd only picked it up maybe a quarter of the time.
