I picked up a much abused outlaw bass from e-bong. The problems were well described and it was only $130 plus shipping. Thanks to MCBrat for the info on the bridge replacment. I found an all parts one for less than the hipshot so I am going that route.

A question on the controls, The info on the site says that the first knob controls the first module and the second controls the second. On mine, for the phase shifter, the first contols the level of the phase in the mix and the third controls the speed of the phase. The second controls the second module (power overdrive). Has this too been changed or was this how it worked for modules with variable speed?

Are you sure the first one is not just your volume pot?

Your are right its a volume pot. It fooled me as it does not go all the way to off. Time for a new pot or some cleaner.

I have couple more questions. Do I have to keep the bass un-plugged when not in use to save the battery? How long does a battery typicaly last (hours playing)? Does the battery show signs that its going or does it just die? If a battery dies do you still have sound?

Many Thanks

I am getting to like this one even in its current condition. The neck is very chunky but it is still comfortable.

Yep you'll have to keep it unplugged (I'm pretty sure) Lasts pretty long, and you'll still hear the guitar when it dies.

On my active guitar, you'll kill the batteries very quickly indeed if you don't unplug it; about 3 days will do it! And you still have sound with dead 'uns if you can toggle between active and passive...
And from memory, the active sound gets very ugly just before it goes silent!!:)
