This is in follow up to my previous post on the microphonic feedback problem I was experiencing with my Electra Les Paul (non-MPC model).

Rather than pot the existing pickups in the guitar, I took the easy & lazy way out & replaced them with new Gibson pickups that were stock on the "Lucille" guitar. With the new pickups, the guitar sounds great & with a setup, it feels & plays great as well.

However, at medium volume with a lot of distortion (I use an EH Hot Tubes through a Sears Silvertone head...nothing too over the top) I'm still experiencing the microphonic feedback problem, just not as bad or as quick as before.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I can't imagine that a set of new pickups could be microphonic, so maybe its something inherent in the guitar?? I know that there are some hollow parts in the body of the guitar and maybe tha tis contributing the problem. Any thoughts, suggestions?
I love this guitar & want to be able to play it out without worrying about microphonic feedback.

Thanks.

Lev

hmm, sounds like it could be your amp. The Silvertones weren't exactly the most robust tube amps, and the preamp tubes have probably gone microphonic over the years. Does the amp squeal when nothing is plugged in, but the dials are turned all the way up? If you 'flick' the tubes with your fingernail can you hear them ringing or clicking through the speakers when turned on? Try your guitars through a Fender or Mesa Boogie amp and see how it behaves.
