No such beast, not that I've ever seen.

Never say never and all that. I've seen a few unknown models appear with an Electra badge. But never a 12-string.

The closest similar idea (to an early Electra) would be a 12-string hollowbody Greco. They are very similar in many ways to early hollowbody Electras.

X189 knows a lot more than I do but that looks PCM to me. PCM has been very poorly documented. Cool looking axe though.

No, none. it is certainly an early PCM Electra. The X on the headstock, plus the black-on-white logo make it certain.

These are completely undocumented (no catalogs, pricelists, etc) so we are slowly getting together details to try to piece together what models existed, as Pacific Coast obviously jsut ordered whatever they felt like and had the name branded on the headstock.

Most likely I would guess it would have similar details to at least one other brand, like maybe Aria or Greco? HAve you looked at hollowbodies of those brands?

PCM Electras used to get a bad rap; some of them deserve it but some are good players. For certain they are relatively uncommon, and yours is quite rare.

The split-top headstock is a trait of many early Kasuga models, and the triangular truss rod cover likewise. Take a look at some early Greco models and we'll see some similarities.

For instance, take a look at the Greco model 980 below (picture hotlinked with gratitude to the Goya-Greco page):

(Note that this is Goya's Greco, unrelated to the Japanese Greco which was made by Fujigen and distributed by Hoshino, just like Ibanez)

Actually the guitar itself is described on the next page, where it appears to me the model 981 is very much like this Electra 12-string. I know it's a 6 and yours is a 12, but see where I'm going- the PCM Electra is like a 12-string variant of that design. And see also below the headstock on the 12-string electric. You can imagine that if you were a buyer from an american music dealer back then, you could jsut order up any combination you wanted and have your particular brand name printed on it.
