I've seen only one other with the torch inlay, believe it was in natural.
I dunno, maybe a PCM but I don't recall another PCM like it.

Its an Electra, an old one from the looks of the head stock.(open book) I've seen the inlay but like BP cant say if its SLM or PCM. Its a good looking guitar. Wish I had one.

Fix the switch and let it be.
You'll find another guitar that you can modify.

Oh, by the way;
PCM=Pacific Coast music

:huh: I prefer to fix the switch as I like the Electras as stock as I can get them. If I wanted to mod one this would be a good choice as it would be easy to upgrade and also easy to return back to stock with old parts. I like the sound of the old vintage pickups for the most part and you can always pot the pickups to reduce the noise and feedback. It all depends on you the owner and what you like best if you plan to keep it. Personally if I am buying I look for a guitar as stock as I can get it if it has a nice finish etc. If it has seen many a gig night and road miles then I am more prone to play around with the pickups etc. 8)

AD.....Keep the guitar as stock as possible. This is an example of the earliest of the headstock designs from Electra (yes the "real" Electra=SLM). General consensis is that this "open book" with the torch inlay was percieved as a potential target by Gibson in the mid 70's and was changed in light of the threatened litigation by Gibson to Ibanez-a competitior to Electra at the time. In susequent versions, the headstock shape was changed to include a 1/2 circle cutout in the center of the headstock design-that shape was again changed to the more common "gumby" shape that is previlant on most Electra guitars (SLM)

I believe these very early "open book" headstock guitars will continue to increase in value...

I think those are gibson pickups too. They may be worth more than the guitar... ya know on the market, not to your heart.
