:bawl: :bawl: :bawl: This is indeed sad to see and hear about. This is yet another example of how a long standing US built and based company is destroyed and devoured and all its assests and employee talents are wasted to outsourcing. The company was built on values and hard work over many years and is now deminished to just a quick buck for the rights to the time honored brand names. I hope this inspires the former employees to get together and form a new company from the ashes of the old one. I salute St. Louis Music and all its hard working former employees and families for their wonderfull gifts of music that we all enjoy.

Things are bad all over, eh, but this does seem a little close to home, even for me here in NZ! I greatly admire Tom Presley and the work he did there; sad to see it go under...

I know several guys who worked there. Some of them for years. It's unfortunate.

I asked at my local guitar shop, and the owner said Loud Inc has continued with Alvarez, Crate, and other SLM brands and is doing a nice job of it.

What's really gone is SLM's distributorship, they sold a lot of gear to local music stores, and that part is now gone.

I'm interested in who exactly has the rights to the Electra name now, my guiess is PCM still holds rights to use it!

Actually, I think Ben Chafin owns it now, otherwise he's getting himself sued.

It's shame, another instance of greed ovecoming quality.

Are we going to see the quality of Alvarez Yairi guitars go to junk and perhaps see the value of the two I own go sky high? Not that I am selling or anything.

Yeah, this truly is shameful! Is this similar to Norlin/Gibson and CBS/Fender back in the 1970s (where these respective corporate entities put these respective world-renowned icons in the toilet giving the Japanese maket a serious boost up)?
