Hey all
I recently bought an Electra Outlaw case from Ebay for my X720. I received it yesterday and it fits- sort of. It is actually very strange to me. It clearly fits the shape of the guitar but there is pretty big gap (behind) where the neck and body meet (it's shaped weird there too) and there are markings like someone used it for another kind of guitar (not a big deal) but I am leery that it is not an Outlaw case at all. Does anyone have an Outlaw case that would be willing to share a pic or two of the inside- fairly close up?
Here is the one I won http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWNX:IT
If you look closely you can see what i am talking about.
ALSO...
The bridge on mine appears to be original but the strings do not go over the pickups correctly (they are slightly off). My repair guy told me that it could just be a manufacture flaw. He told me he could replace it with one that would (or just replace the saddles)correct the problem. Has anyone else had this problem or heard of a similar problem?
Thanks!
Aaron in Cincy

I saw that case too. I couldn't tell you what was in there, as you say the imprint isn't recognizable. It could have started out life as an Outlaw case though, as the LP shape you can spot a mile away. How does the outlaw fit? Is it bobbing around in there? I have lots of cases with towels or extra padding in them, you do what ya gotta do to keep the guitar from shifting around.

As far as the strings lining up with the pickup polepieces, I wouldn't change the saddles for aesthetics sakes. Do the strings line up with the fretboard correctly? (Even spacing, and between the edge and E strings) If the pole pieces don't line up with the strings, I would blame the pickguard placement, or the pickup placement on the pickguard, before scrutinizing the bridge.

Pickups have a area of sensitivity that extends beyond the size of the bobbins, and heck there are lots of pickups out there that don't even have exposed pole pieces. I've used 'blade' type pickups and pickups with multiple polepieces and have guitars that the strings don't exactly line up with the pickups (both pickup ring and pickguard mounted) and frankly haven't perceived much difference when bending strings, etc. I'm not saying it isn't measurable by someone or something, but I can't tell... I wouldn't worry about it too much, Mike.

Thanks Mike. Yeah, I don't really hear anything that alarms me or causes me to question the pickups- it was something I noticed when I first bought the guitar. It plays just fine and sounds fine (as fine as my ears can hear). Thanks also for the idea of maybe putting in some towels or something to give the axe a snugger fit.
