I've been patiently looking for that great deal on a Matsumoku bass. Electra, Aria, it doesn't matter as long as it's got a dual pick up set up, and is in good playing condtion.

I don't know what the reasons are, but some of the Aria Pro II basses for sale, are very pricey. The "Jack Bruce" models are way up there.

Anyone know why? Can we expect all the Matsumokus are going to get crazy?

Hell, yes!! Well, maybe not into Ibanez territory but certainly more than the NZ$200 I'm used to paying for them!! My last one - a see through red Spectrum MX - cost £200; I still get the pucker happening if I think about it too much!!

The APII basses - along with the Westone ones - seem very well regarded with the APII SB1000 going for ridiculous money these days because Cliff Burton played one. Mind you, a Westone SuperHeadless was picked up last week in Sweden for €120 ... in mint condition... - not by me, I hasten to add! - so the bargains are still out there, fellas!!

Try to get a Westone Spectrum GTBass; they seem to be reasonably priced and are a very good instrument indeed - I have one and love it to bits!

I will second John's suggestion of a Westone Spectrum GT bass as mine, despite being thrashed, is still a spectacular player. The Electra Phoenix X640 basses are also great.

There's a X650jb on eBay currently for under a Hundred Bucks..:

It's cleaner than the one I gave away at ElectraFest 2010, dual pickup, metal covers, phase switch for those times when you want to get funky... go crazy.
