I'm fortunate enough to have two 2254's....and they are quite different guitars. The one (with the green tint and Duncans) is a Matsumoku and the other is apparently Fuji Gen production, since it's very similar to my Ibanez LP's from that era.

Notice the differences in finish, logo placement, binding, truss covers, bridge cant, and knobs between these two Electras. And the similarities to the Ibanez 2350G of the one, including single bound fretboards. The machines have been changed on both so no need to pic the headstock rear.

The body binding, knobs, etc:

Side by side finish comparison:

Comparisons to my Ibanez 2350G. The fret markers on the Matt are figured pearl:

What do you guys think? Is the one a Fuji Gen build? I haven't pulled either of these down and looked inside, but I would expect that what I find would follow along with the exterior cosmetics.

Have a great day, all.

This kind of "Electra-ological" exploration is almost priceless. At some point somebody's going to have to write a nice hardcover book about these guitars... hmm....

X189 may be able to tell you where they originated, I think he has a theory that the 'script' logos came from Fujigen. I've never noticed the extra line of binding or ornamentation on the fretboard like you have on the 'greentop' there. There are enough differences that they may be from different factories, or could be explained by early/late production. By pulling the covers and pickups you could see more of the construction techniques used which may help determine if they are from the same 'parent' manufacturer.

Geez, how many Goldtops do you need man?
