It's a rare enough sighting of an Electra with intact MPC switches that I got to thinking about it. Face it - They're frickin' huge - hard to protect. I figure most of the broken ones we see are a result of shoddy cases. Even if they were good qualtiy hardshells, if they weren't made for Electra's , they could have easily squished the ridiculously tall bats.

Electra did, apparently make cases specific to certain models. Every Electra I've had with intact Bats came with an OHSC. Every Electra I've bought with MPC WITHOUT an OHSC had busted bats. Just bad luck on my part? Or maybe not. Comments please.

Plus the Bat's were outdated early on. Mini switctches were common on Ibanez by '76 or '77. What was the point?

I'm obsessing - change my screen name to Batman. :toopid:

There's lots of truth in that there deduction, me thinks. Could definately be why the SLM folks strongly suggested a case be sold with each guitar. These cases were costly back then.

And as an aside to that, people often comment on how thick or big the Electra OHSC's are. I lug one into a room with other guitar players and they often say- wow that is a huge case!

They are really big /wide/ heavy. I suspect they are model specific - which would mean totally custom in every way.
