I have an Electra Futura. It is originally the red color. It has been repainted to be purple. I bought it on ebay. It was speculated, that since it originated in whatever city that the pop artist Prince originated or did his recordings, that it might have possibly been used or owned by him at some point in time.

The refinish is superb, which may indicate a high dollar job, within the grasp of a highly paid celebrity.

Anybody care to speculate or provide information on provenance?

The Futura looks pretty good in Purple! It looks like a pretty nice paint job as you point out. Unless you could find a picture with Prince holding it, or a letter written by him indicating he used it, there is no way to prove he ever touched the guitar man... Frankly, I'm not certain that would really increase its value anyway! No offense to Prince intended (well, maybe...). Looks Good!

I agree - looks good!! Yeah, for a provenance that's worth anything you need documentation that is verifiable; otherwise it's just a purple guitar!!

I LOVE the purple finish. As for the Prince thing??? That's kind of like saying that if you bought a Strat from someone in Texas, Stevie Ray Vaughan used to own it. Without authentification it's just a purple guitar.

I remember seeing it on eBay. seems like it was eons ago.....

Sure is a nice looking color.

I doubt Prince owned it, but for what it's worth, he is an excellent guitar player.

I like the purple guitar too, someone did a good job on that.

As far as it being Prince's? Nah. I'm not much of a Prince fan, but there's no denying his talents.

Very nice purple finish indeed. Looks nice in purple. As for the Prince ownership who knows without documentation or photo. It does look like a pro paint job and it makes it stand out and looks great.

consideing the logo is still red and dose not match the purple I would also say its not princes.....from experience I know how picky he is....
