I'm on the look out for a X420, but I know they are on the rare side, and a VS is probably unobtainium.

I like the ES335 body style without the F holes. What would be your 2nd choice? Washburn? Ibanez?

I don't know all the brands that make similar guitars.

What's your .02 Electra brethren??

I did see the black X420 a few weeks ago in FL, but I gotta sell the Boxster first. Anyone want to trade in a minty guitar toward a sports car??? :hyper:

Patience my son, Patience. They're out there, just waiting for you. Start a thread in the 'Guitar Wanted' section, it'll stay up at the top much longer than here.

I can't think of any other brand/manufacturer that makes a rounded horn double cut without F holes - I thought maybe Vantage... but no. I would just hang tight until a 420 comes along rather than settle for less. You'd have a lot more options if you could accept the F holes. Any reason you don't like them?

I can thinkof no other brand or model that would compare to the 420 or 420VS. The 420 black models are getting more common now that the prices have gone up. I have seen more of them in the past year than in years past due to the price increases I guess. The 420VS is another story. they are almost as hard to find as the X120, Burgundy Pro, and X910 models. I have only seen maybe 2 or 3 at best for sale. Be patient and one of the black 420 models will show up. I will keep my eyes open also. The one JD just listed the link for looks nice also.

while not quite the full 335 shape, the Ibanez Artist is similar, and no F holes... http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-IBANEZ-ARTI ... 53e6bdec0d

Besides the big G, I thought that Washburn made a Delta Blues, or Blues Queen that was a non F hole semi hollow body. I may be wrong, but aren't some Washburns Matsumoku? Anyone know how good Washburns are?

I have a Washburn HB35 on eBay right now with no reserve. This one is a hard to find MIJ model (Mat most likely) and an excellent guitar, if I say so myself. I wouldn't be selling it right now if I hadn't opened my wallet a bit too much here recently for more Electras. It's in almost as good condition as the Burgundy Pro I just bought from Joe.

It does have the "F" holes though.

Some of the Washburns were indeed Matt models and are very nice guitars also.

This isn't too far off a 335 shape - but it does share more similariities with an Ibanez Artist. Looks pretty nice too. If I wasn't monetarily challenged I'd be in on this.

That's a nice looking guitar, but it's a solid body.

If you are still looking, this one looks like what you were asking for. I really enjoy mine.

I've emailed him twice, but only one reply. I'm going to try and call tomorrow. I don't know anyone in the area that could check it out. I'll find out when I talk to him if he'll ship. I've had a Forum Member offer one as well. I'd like to find a good example.

I've started detailing the Boxster to sell :bawl: I'd rather sell a testicle, but we just don't drive it enough to justify the expense and depreciation. It's a 2000 with 39,300 miles and very nice. The more I clean it up, the less I want to sell it, but business sucks right now and there's tons of cars out there.

The bonus is I'm ear marking some $$$$ for GAS/EGAS :hyper:
