Here are a few pics from my sons band at a local gig last week. My son enjoys the outlaw and the rhythm guitar player enjoys the tele. The Bass player(hidden in back as usual with the drummer) also enjoy an Electra X640N Bass. They enjoy playing my various Electras and it is great that they can introduce a new generation of players to these great guitars. It is always great to see the college age crowds come up at the breaks and ask about the guitars and how great they sound and look. They all want to know where they can get one and when you tell them that they are guitars and Basses from the 70's and 80's they are very surprised. They do seem to get attention whenever they are played and that is a good thing. I hope to have some video from future gigs to share. I hope I am not the source of a younger generation epidemic of egas.

Boy those kids are lucky!! Two really nice Electra models to play. In many ways Electra's are still "sleepers" and that's just fine with me. I don't buy them with the hope that they'll skyrocket in price and pay for my assisted living/retirement - they're just fine axes. I still have yet to come across one that's been downright junk. At this point, I don't think I will.

Make those kids cut your lawn or something!!!!!

This one was easy. Once my son decided to play and he saw and heard my Electras he was hooked. He likes the Elvin but the Outlaw is his favorite. The others did not take long when the band was formed once they saw and heard his outlaw they were hooked as well. Quality does wonders and Electras are quality at it's best. I will try to get some video of the band at the next gig. They play classic rock and that suits the Electras just fine. They are all talented musicians but have the typical same old band issues we all used to have. The issue for now is the vocalist. He wants to do more modern screamo type music and thats OK but for gigs around here it does not work unless you want to play for free. They are all working college kids so they are looking for paying gigs. Seems that the old band issues never die just move on to new generations. I remember those days when it was always an issue about something or someone or some gig. Man those were the days. No worries other than school and the music. Have a great day. The issue is always the vocalist or drummer it seems! I have trouble with both.

I can attest to this! I'm currently in college and just got an electra. I think, like you said, it comes down to quality. If you find something that was popular decades ago, but that it was practical, and worked well (and in the case of electras, looked sharp too) then most people are going to go for it. I have been wanting an older japanese made electric for a while now, and after doing some research finally settled on the electra brand. It's great, although I know next to nothing about electric guitars, and only one of the pickups works (but man, that one pickup sounds surprisingly good, and I'm pretty positive it's the original). By the way, what's the name of the band your son's in, and have they recorded anything yet?

The bands name is The NightOwls and no recordings other than a demo for gig purposes as of yet. They are enjoying the gigs and music and they are all college students so the gig money helps also. They have a gig as the House band at a local resturant/bar and are looking for more gigs. No recordings as of yet but I will try to get some video posted when they get the vocalist issue resolved.

Very cool, thanks a lot. I would definitely be interested in hearing them play. Yeah it kind of stinks because now with college me and my friends don't have the time to jam nearly as much as we used to. We never really had a band, and none of us know very much about the instruments we play, or the correct way to play them, but we do have lots of fun
Well, I hope they get that vocalist thing figured out soon, cause I want to see a video!

What else is there? The only reason I ever played out in a band was becasue it was fun; some sort of mastery of the instrument eludes me to this day!!

Here is a link to my sons band. The video is crude but the Electras sound nice. The Bass in in the back as usual with my X640N, My son has the Outlaw, and the other is the Slimline tele natural. Hope you like it. They are a great bunch of young musicians and they love the Electras.

Awesome! Your son rips, I wish I could play like him. I've always played acoustic (and pretty much only learned through tabs ), so I'm just now trying to learn scales how to apply them to the chords used and what not. I mean, I'm even still trying to learn how to use a pick! I really like that solo he busted and the outlaw sounds awesome, although I really like the look of the tele. Thanks for sharing, and tell your son he's got an awesome band going.

Thanks for the comments. He has been playing for a little over 2 years now. He loves the outlaw as well as my other Electras including the Elvin Bishop model. They have been playing together for a year or so and are just now starting to get some regular gigs. Practice, practice, practice, and it pays off as well as being fun also.
