Hi fellas....I've finished my 2258 page, or at least I think I have. Would you have a look and if I'm wrong about anything or need more info that you may have, please let me know. I also need pics of a 2258 wave headstock and a 2258 notch headstock. Thank you.....

Very nicely done, great info. I really like the look of the set neck model. Would have been awesome with the torch inlay logo. I would give a guess that the one you picked up is indeed a manufacturers prototype for the SLM folks to choose from. It has the obvious differences in it is a set neck etc but my guess is that the set construction would have cost more and bumped up the price so they went with the bolt neck configuration for the model run as most we see are bolt neck models. The one piece neck etc would have added additional costs also I assume. Great guitar thanks for the information and comparison.

Good stuff, I love comparisons. Don't know what to say about the decal logo, I've never seen one, but apparently others have so it seems semi-legit. A P90 is a (large) single coil with the pole pieces in the center, not sure it would conform to the pole pieces on those guys. Anyway you slice it, that's a rare bird.

I've seen Cimar listed as a brand made by Fuji Gen...

can you get me an extreme close up of the headstock decals? is it applied on top of the poly? or below the poly?

JD....Nice job on the page ! Is the neck on the maple leaf guitar laminated ? Is is maple ? The more I look at the back of that neck , I am reminded of the couple of Electras with that same scarf joint high up on the neck between the "E"'s .....Memphis had the same joint. Is there any support (other than observational) that these difference could be due to different factories being contracted ? Im going to take a close look at my Magnums and S Mags tonite and see how they stack up.....again , great job JD..its real interesting

Hey Dave...the neck is one piece to a point just above the volute, almost even with the "E's" mounting screw holes. This isn't a scarf joint...I tend to think of those as that slanted butress of those Korean necks and headstocks.

This joint is pretty well matched in grain, although at a different angle...also, for lack of a better term, it's dadoed in. It's not a straight across cut and glue. The headstock sits on the neck blank with what appears to be dado joints at the sides...of course, machined and finished nicely.

I've never seen this done before on another guitar. Look again at the pic of the rear of the crown headstock...just off to the left side of the high "E" machine, you can better see this joint. Too dark/shadowed to see that there is a like joint on the other side.

That sounds like the way classical guitar neck/head joints are made.

Actually, I have seen this same joint on several Electras....I suspect an alternate factory...check out this x940.......

Really ? I have seen that exact same (at least I thought so) joint on a couple of different Electras, I'll see if I can dig em out of the Vault and do some comparison photos...I always speculated that at some point Electra contracted with a different factory to fill their orders and that factory used that weird joint, your correct its not really a "scarf" joint, but I dont know what to call it. Actually Memphis guitars use a joint in the same place, but it actually has a dado...very weird...
