I doubt many of us got Electras as gifts from other people, but I figured it might be fun to check out what everyone got themselves as beautiful Japanese-crafted gifts this year.

If someone else gave you an Electra for a holiday gift, than you must have been exceptionally nice this year! I'm not that nice I suppose so I bought myself some SD pups for my Aria....I will post pics of Duncan equipped R80 when I get them in this week and install them. I hope 59n/dist b works well on her. Just need to find the stupid proprietary cable for my camera and I'll get some pics up here to legitimize this thread ASAP.

Anyhow I started this thread to discuss new Electra/matz stuff any of us may have picked up and are excited about.

And if nothing else to wish everyone Happy Holidays! Now I'm gonna go jam. Hope everyone has a prosperous year despite the GAS epidemic we're all getting through....

Jead.... a closeup of the bridge & tailstock, if you please. Very nice!

Here you go - most of the gold is gone. This is a transition model with non-original schallers. I have the sure grips for it but not in the picture. I'd love to get my hands on some pearloid velve-tune's but they're almost impossible to find.

I got 3 Electra's in one swoop in a pawnshop 2 wks. ago. I gave the '75 Black MPC X-310 as a Christmas gift to my son.

Here's a pic of the 3 I got:

Here's some pics of him using it to worship God.:

Jead- Beautiful find! I love that sg-type shape and the pitch-black ebony fretboard. It looks like it would have a great feel to it as well. Congrats

Texan- I gotta say your pawnshops are better than ours in west-suburban Chicago. Holy junk, 3 killer Electras at the same shop. Hope you got a sick package deal!
Good job to your son also, he really performs well live on the video clip!
Didn't realize there were church shows like that...my church has some elder hippies jam old hymns on ovation plastic-backs if I'm lucky! Though they may actually have some original Electras laying around from their earlier days...I should ask, maybe I'll find a gem, lol.

Happy Holidays and thanks for the pics! (I should have some to post this week too)

Thanks Jay. Yea our church does the big production services. My son grew up on 70's rock music, so he's excited that he gets to play a great sounding '75 Electra in church. I'm looking forward to your pics Jay. :D

I didn't get one but I did give my X230 to my middle son, 22 yrs old and his wife of 11 months walked out so he sold all of his guitars and amps to get out of debt. He is such a gifted player that I could not stand to see him without a guitar. Seemed like a good idea but I sure miss it now.

He plays at a church with my 24 yr old son. They make me very proud and I was happy to see them playing together again. I need to mention my 12 yr old as well who wanted and received a Squire bass for Christmas, he has played for 3 years and also plays on a worship team at his school that my 24yr old leads.

All in all feeling very blessed this Christnas season!! Hope everyone is else feeling the same.

Congrats also Animal- Sounds like you've got good reason to be proud of your kids and it's nice you could help further their creativity and sounds like their family unity as well.

Sorry to hear about your son's wife.....We all know how brutal that can turn out to be. Sounds like he needed the Electra more than you, good job.

More giving of Electras than receiving this year!
