The Electra Forums

Last Friday I saw both guitars in a pawnshop, and they wanted $440 for both.I went back to the pawnshop today and got both guitars for $300. Technically I traded a PRS Tremonti SE I picked up for $250 and $50 cash for both the Ventura and the Electra. Both guitars sound good with the existing strings,and should
sound great with new ones and a good set up.

Congrats. The Bolt-On LP's have a curved top attached to them, and if you tap around the top you'll hear some hollow spots. Not really 'chambered' by design, but very lively, and probably a couple pounds lighter than a real LP (which in my book is a good thing). The stock pickups are unwaxed, and can be pretty squeally at high volume or overdrive settings. The flame top looks nice, not too over the top, and certainly not boring. I wish they would have made the yellow center much smaller on the sunburst personally.

The Ventura reminds me of a Univox I used to own back in the 70's with the rounded fretboard at the end, clear pickups and simple covered tuners. I would guess it is the 'lesser' of the two. Enjoy!

Yea, thes Electra is lighter than the Ventura. I would have never thought so,but the pickups in the Ventura sound fatter and don't sqeal at high volume like the Electra. Both guitars feel good, but I won't know how they really play and sound till they get their proper set up. I'm guessing the Electra is a '72-73, and the Ventura is a '73-75? I just feel good giving both these veteran guitars a good home.

I had posted in the other thread that mine was a clone to an Aria 5102 but was incorrect on that. It more closely is related to a 5502, but a really unbelievable find for $20 no matter what the resemblance is.

That is a beautiful Ventura 335 copy. What a find!!! The Ventura plate on the headstock is exactly like the Ventura J-Bass I picked up in a pawnshop.
