So, I was looking through my collection of Phoenixes to see when, exactly, SLM changed from that kinda-crappy string-through-bridge design to the ferruled string-through-body on the 1981 peace-sign models. These were the serial numbers I had in closest proximity to the change:

2050xxx string-through-body
1093xx string-through-body
1091xx string-through-body
1030xx string-through-bridge
1041xx string-through-bridge

Anybody have any serials between 1041xx and 1091xx? What kind of bridge do you have?

What is an X150 Purple? Typo on x150 or a refinish?

I thought the whole world knew about the purple x150. It is a refinish. I was tired of the stripes at age 20 and refinished it. You could really see all the different slabs of wood too. I hired a guy at the body shop of a car dealership I was working at to do it. I stripped the poly ( not recommended) and gutted the active stuff. After that I filled the battery compartment with bondo, filled in the last two switch and knob holes, primered it. Then handed it off to the painter. It really looks awesome in person. But one of these days it could use a wet sand and buff. It doesn't really need it though. I bought a new bridge for it, dimarzio's, and scalloped the neck. This was my first guitar from when i was 12, so it basically became a victim of my whims. I don't really regret any of the mods I made because it plays GREAT, and sounds killer. The only thing left to do is to add ferrules and run the strings thru the body. The replacement bridge allows for that, although at the moment the strings load thru the end of the bridge. The picture to the left is from '83. The same guitar!
