We need to come up with a 'Sticky' thread on Serial Numbers for new collectors, but real quick here, Any foil tags are inconclusive as far as dating Electra guitars, it is better to go by features and sometimes finishes if you need to date one, and even then it will just be in the Ballpark. The Tele's were marketed up until about 1975, so being very general we usually say 1972 to 1975 on them, regardless of the serial number.

In January of 1980 they used a different (and Excellent!) system of six or seven digit numbers stamped into the back of the headstock. Your X150 was made in April of 1981, first digit of your serial number indicates the last number of the production year, 2nd and 3rd digits would be the month of that year (04).

In addition some of the Semi Hollows use the Hoshino numbering system, example F777393 stamped on the back of the headstock is believed to mean June of 1977 Build date. Letter indicating the month, first two numerals the year it was made. I hope this helps! Mike.

String thru body was a design change to later models, not an option.
