Recently purchased an X620 for a really good price. Yesterday it arrived with the headstock broken. I've had to file a claim with the USPS. My question is, how much of a hit in value will a professionally repaired headstock take? Everything else on the bass appears to be in great shape. I am asking for the entire purchase price back initially but, just in case, I want some direction on where to go if I have to negotiate.

Second question. I've never owned an MPC before. Are there bass modules and guitar modules or do all modules work on all guitars?

If you are keeping the instrument for collector value, it is pretty much ruined unless it was a super rare model. I you just play and gig with it and have no down the line plans for it, have fun with it as long as the repair is stable.

As far as the modules go, there are no specific bass modules. The 12 original modules work in either the guitars or bass, but there might be ones suited better for the bass. Someone here who has one might be able to point you in that direction.

That's what I was afraid of. I'll probably just have it repaired and keep it for the fun of it. Such a cool bass just to scrap it.

:bawl: :bawl: Always a bummer when the neck breaks due to improper handling or packing. So far as the resale value goes these Basses are top dollar for collectors but only in great shape. A broken neck no matter how good the repair will destroy the collector value. These are however super solid Basses and a good pro repair will not have any effect on the playability or tone of the Bass so if you don't mind the repair the have it repaired and enjoy it. At least if you have it repaire and use it for a daily player you won't have to worry anymore about a ding or scratch hurting the value. Repair and enjoy. All 12 MPC modules will work in the Bass but I prefer the Compressor, Treble/Bass, Phase shifter, Power Overdrive and Dtnamic fuzz in the bass but thay can all be used in various combinations and that is what makes them so much fun. If I can offer any info or specs for the repairs feel free to pm me. Thanks and good Luck Arthur aka mortarman120gang11C

Thank you! It presently has to sit, up to a month, while the USPS "investigates". It definitely will be repaired. I typically play guitar (2248), but have always wanted one of these basses. I have one now, although not perfect.

Ahood,

I'm not sure if this will happen to you (and I hope it doesn't) but when I filed a claim and received money from UPS, they required that they take the damaged item. They came to my house and picked it up. You're dealing with USPS so your experience may (hopefully) be different.

I've heard both, that sometimes they want to take the item and sometimes they don't. I guess it's all negotiation? I'm going to try my hardest to keep it and repair it. I think it's too nice to put in a dumpster.
