Just wondering -- awhile back I sold a pair of E's to an Ozark-something fella here
and never heard a word after the transaction. I assume he was happy with the deal,
unless it bothered him that this axe:

Came into my possession looking like this:

(It had spare parts with it that I used to make it more presentable...)

Also the X-270 #001001 (first one off the line?) was promised like this:

But by the time I quit fiddling with it, what he got was this:

Anyone ever hear back from the guy? Hope I didn't wreck his faith in mankind...

PS: Did any more evidence ever turn up relating to whether X-270 #001001
(Translation: 1980, January, #001) was indeed the very first one completed?

PPS: For that matter, I don't think we ever even discussed the significance of
the X-910 serial number (#22780) here on the forum -- comments?

PPPS: After doing the same search five different times over the course of a year or so,
it turns out that the "signed" Rolling Stones Fender Starcaster I inherited
along with those Electras was totally bogus. Glad the two X's were genuine, at least!

Well I am certain that Ozark Cannon did not drop off the forums as he is a top notch forum member. He is most likely busy and enjoying those Electras. We all seem to get caught up with the day to day rush sometime it seems or maybe he is working on another surprise project...... Ozark will show up. that serial number is very interesting but will need some research to be certain. I will jot a note down to ask Mr Tom Presley( the original Electra guru that designed all these great electronics and guitars) at the Electrafest 2014 this year. The X910 is always a favorite here as well. Thanks

Thank you as well. In my typical bass-ackwards fashion, I now have found that OC did indeed comment on the gtrs about 3 months after the sale (see: http://www.rivercityamps.com/electraforum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7432&p=39964#p39964).

I'll respond here to a couple of comments in that thread:

OC: Seller, as with every other person I've approached about buying an X910, seemed to lean heavily towards the eccentric side.

me: Can't argue with that description, Cannon -- but just be glad you weren't dealing with their PREVIOUS owner!!!

OC: I tried to reiterate how important packing was with this model - the seller assured me he knew exactly how to pack and not to worry. When I received the package I was shocked - I opened the X910 case thinking I would see wood splinters and a newly floating headstock!

me: I *never* claimed to be a packing authority -- but being prone to horrible panic attacks, I could never have sent the package if I didn't somehow know it would make the trip safely. That's the best way I can explain my packaging "technique". (And you gotta admit it worked!)

OC: The bridge and tailpiece were trashed, mismatched screws in pick-guard, corroded pickup screws.

me: Just to be clear, especially since I myself teased about this above -- OC was aware of these problems in advance. Good to finally see how well he managed to restore the guitars using both the extra parts I included and his own additional hardware and craftsmanship!

JTW: My palms sweat terribly when I play and resting on the bridge is where my right one likes to stay...so, I've corroded the heck out of a few of my old guitars there as well.

me: Wow! A probable solution as to how the 910 could be adorned with heavily-pitted/corroded metal parts, yet the finish on the wood was all but unscathed! I never thought I'd get a clue as to how that came about!

Anyhow, glad to know these Electras found a good home and that all is well. (Now, if I can ever manage to get and post the photo of their previous owner arm in arm with JIMI HENDRIX (!), we can truly put the final coda on this number!
