for our daughter. Someone who works with her gave it to her. Our daughter has been playing the double base in orchestra and we had discussed getting her one for Christmas. Well, I know nothing about bass guitars or guitars but from finding your forum, it appears this is going to be a lot better than what I was contemplating. I wanted to thank you guys for such a great forum. Any tips or pointers would be appreciated. I think it's an X630. Getting an amp, cord, strap, etc. later this week. I can post better photos later if anyone is interested.

That is a very nice solid built Bass and it plays very well and will fit most any style of play. Great score Congrats.

Thanks!

Using the number code it seems it was made Feb. 1981. I was still in high school.

Hi, nice find. I play upright as well as electric and can say they are very different instruments. I suspect it is easier to transition from uprigh to electric rather than the way I did it. Just like with an upright, a good setup can make a big difference. They are easier and cheaper on electic. Other advice. A cheap nylon strap will work just fine. A decent cord (but stay away from the budget cords) will be fine. A 10' one is a good length. I like Planet Wave cords but any name brand will do.

Amps are more complicated. They depend on what she is going to play music wise; were and with whom she is going to play; will she want an amp that she can use for both upright and electric, and budget.

If you have more specifics on the amp, I will be happy to make recomendations.

BTW Mega kudus to you and your wife for supporting your daughters music.
