I found this poor axe in a dismantled pile collecting dust at the music store I work for (probably an unclaimed repair from long ago, no contact info to call someone, but it's been there for years). It was missing parts for the Bigsby assembly, which I ordered in from Allparts, and the string tension rod, which I fabricated out of 1/4" brass rod, and put it all back together. Also replaced the input jack and pickup switch, still need to replace the neck pickup which is dead. But even plugged in and operating off just the bridge pickup it sounds and plays great, has very low action and the neck is dead straight, one of the straightest I've seen for any guitar or bass. A guitar player friend of mine who's a "USA only" guitar snob even kinda drooled over it. I have named it "Angus" for obvious reasons :-P

Here is a preliminary pic of Angus:

Nice save. Check to see if the lead came loose inside the cover on the pup. You may not have to replace it.

That's one of the early 2259's with the big pickguard and very early script, only seen on a few guitars, the Dan Armstrong Lucite and Gibby Bass are the ones that come to mind. Looks good, Congrats!!

I'm new to this forum and going through past pages for research on a bunch of Electra parts I got in a box (I've posted another thread about this). Anyhow, this is exactly the neck and pickguard I have. The PUPs look the same, too (and the Bigsby look-alike) along with the knobs. Does anybody know the year it was made (or years for this style)? That would help me date my parts.
