I have a x220 OMEGA that has 2 knobs and 2 switches but has a standard LP toggle switch up top. was there a year when they made one like that or has this one been modified, I bought it New in 1981. I would appreciate any information

The omega models all had the 5 way rotary switch standard.

By 1980 SLM had significantly changed their product line to eliminate any obvious 'Copy' shapes, LP's would have the subtle 1/2 cutaway, the Phoenix line replaces any strat-like shapes, and even the ES335 models have no F holes, the body is slightly smaller and the knobs are in a different position. If you bought it from a store in 1981, it was manufactured at least two years earlier, and it could conceivably have been modified before it was sold to you. As far as we know all Omegas had the 'Tone Spectrum' five way rotary switch as that was key feature for that model.

The one confusing exception is the post 1980 X210 (which should never have been advertised as an Omega...) which has the 1 and 1/2 cutaway design, two micro switches just in front of the control knobs and the model number stenciled on the back of the headstock, and it had a standard three way toggle switch for selecting pickups. Post some pictures and maybe we can piece this together. It is possible that some guitars may have been modified prior to sale, but it is debatable whether that makes them more desirable or valuable. Thanks Mike for that info. I had forgotten about the second X210 model that was also marketed as an Omega. Funny that I would forget that as I have one but it so closely resembles the pro endorsers with the exception of the micro switches that I always consider it as a one off pro endorser model. Great player and nice neck but not like the earlier Omega models in any way.
