 Post subject: X810 value?
PostPosted: Wed Nov 05, 2003 7:51 pm
I just found a website on the Electra guitars, and discovered that the guitar I bought 10 years ago is an X810, as far as I can tell is original and in good shape, original case, but the pickguard is broken and I've modified the overdrive module by adding two diodes to soft-clip the output. The phase shifter is original. Finish is good, but there is some wear on the brass stop and corrosion on the brass nut.

How can I find the value of the guitar? Is there a guitar bluebook or something similar?

Hey!

I looked on the Orion Blue Book site and they only have Electra models from 1981 and on. From what I've seen the similar X410 model go for on eBay, I would say that the X810 could probably go from anywhere between $600 and $1000. The only thing I'm not sure about is if it being an MPC model would make it more or less valuable to the world at large. If someone was looking to pick up an ES-335 but couldn't afford the Gibson, they might prefer a non-MPC model for a more traditional look and sound. However, if someone had their heart set on an MPC, the vine inlay would be a bonus worth paying a bit extra for. Plus, that seems like a fairly rare model.

I hope that helps at least a bit. Take care! :)

Electraman's estimate is probably closer than mine, as he's been paying attention to Electras for much longer than I have. However, I have noticed a trend toward higher prices for the ones in really nice condition on eBay and other guitar store sites.

Good luck!

Thanks, everyone. I do appreciate your responses.

I guess if I can't make an obscene amount of money selling it, I'll just hang on. It's the only guitar I have.
