Some may remember me as the "find or sell me your Crate Electra" guy.

I'm always on the lookout for a $100 crate Electra (LP only the strats are more miss than hit).

I've got 4 of the buggers now. All with top of the line pickups. We are talking 50 year old patent pending sticker Gibson pickups. To motor city, voodoo etc etc. grovers, bone nuts etc. even put a set of Gibson robo min-e tuners on one.

I should get a family pic for the forum.

Good for you, man. I can tell you love your axe. This whole thing we do, the collecting and obsessing over guitars, sometimes teaches us things we didn't expect. It can open our eyes to new vistas simply by having others expose us to their idea of guitar cool.

When I started buying and selling in the sixties I considered Fenders to be tools and not much more. I appreciated the older ones as survivors, but not much beyond that. I was Gibson fixated when it came to electric solid bodie. As Gibson's became increasingly more desireable, and expensive, I opened up to Fenders, Guilds, and so on. I started climbing down the ladder, as it were. Hey, I've got the coolest little neck-through Kay K125 down in the shop right now. ;-) No kiddin...

I confess... my prejudice has cost me many guitars over the years. That's been the cost of my snobbery. I could have had a lot more fun if I'd had bigger eyes back in the day.

My conclusion? Bring it on, Fyn. Hip me to the inside scoop on Crate electrics. I admit my ignorance and am willing to learn.

Maybe we'll have a Crate Board one day... ;-)

I own one of these, sunburst, chrome hardware, gold speed knobs. I had it set up right after I got it. Luthier told me it was mahogany with a thin maple cap. Pick ups are hot, plays smooth as butter. It's pretty as well! I paid $200 for the guitar, HSC, and a Line 6 spyder amp (that I gave away). I'd post a pic if I knew how looks like this one:
