My first Electra, a 1984 x189RD is in need of a neck replacement due to fret wear from heavy strings and lots of love in the 23 tears I have owned it. I recently scored a loaded neck from a 1984 "Pointy" model (Futura, etc...) with the triangular headstock on ebay. I assume it will be a direct bolt on, the neck has all tuners and mounting bolts, just wanted to see if any one here had ever done this swap. I know it may be tough to find a case that fits since headstock clearance is already tight on some cases and the "new" neck looks even longer. Will be here next week, I will post an update when I get it.
