Trying to find out about my friends guitar. It is an Electra Custom model #2257, serial # 15897. I hope someone can help me with some history on this particular guitar. Thanks ZRX Jock :lol:

the 2257 first appeared in the 1974 Electra Catalog, as the Electra Magnum II. all maple, incl. fingerboard, clear pickguard. real abalone inlays in a slender neck. 3 way switch was down by the control knobs, instead of on the upper bout.

was gone by the 1977 catalog. so maybe '74-'76...

retail price in 1974: $425 and was the most expensive Electra available then. (by $100)

yours should have the Gibson style headstock with the bell shaped truss rod cover, and fancy headstock inlay...
