An old buddy of mine just gave me this guitar that he's had since we were sophmores in high school. He said he didn't have room in his moving truck, although I think he knew I always coveted this guitar and hewas just being cool. I thought he had bought it new around that time (1985) maybe a year or two earlier?? I know he bought it from a local shop here in San Diego. Did Electra ever sell necks to luthiers to put together their own??

It's a pretty solid guitar. Has a three way switch. Sprayed a little tuner cleaner in all of the pots and ran a bore brush throught the jack, new strings, and voila....brought back some memories.......

Here's one just like it (eBay Auction, link wont be available for long):

http://cgi.ebay.com/ELECTRA-GUITAR-W-VI ... 240%3A1318

Ended up going for $300.

I believe the 'Spur' headstock's can be attributed to PCM (Pacific Coast Music) as opposed to SLM (St. Louis Music) which is what most of this site is dedicated to. Remember that Electra was a 'Brand for Hire' in the 70's, and would make instruments to anyones specifications. It is a 'Real' Electra, frankly, not sure anyone would ever bother counterfitting a Japanese brand. Also keep in mind that there is almost no documentation for the PCM products, whereas the SLM line was actually pretty well documented. Cheers.

Yup, it's consistent with PCM guitars. Spur headstock, and the fade pattern/color of the pickup covers match as well.

Thanks for the replies. I have seen the other Electras with the peace symbol before, and now i'm a little better informed!! It's a pretty cool guitar. I might have to tinker, though, and try a five way switch, and maybe replace the tuners...and the saddles. Can't quite dial in the intonation, but it's close..... I just can't leave well enough alone.
