I have 1967/68 Electra Guitar model #2248 Serial 0310 that my Mother gave me. Can anyone give me any info on this. I have found nothing for pre 1970 guitars. Thanx

the 2248 should have been a Ivory White tele copy...

You are correct on the style but it is yellow with a white pick guard. Is this a rare year for the guitar since there is little information on it?

Ivory white will definitely turn yellow with age, have any pictures of it? What intrigues me is 1967/68. How did you determine this date? Most accepted info has the first Electra's in 1971, but I suspect there may be some late 60's models based on a 1967 neck date on the pages first Electra (which appears to be missing from the page?!?! :-? ), the Dan Armstrong Lucite copy.

I called and asked my mom since they were hers. She said the color has always been yellow, she think that she got them in 67/68, or possibly in 71. I will try to get some pics for you. The guitar that the link above shows that it has a wc with the model number this one does not. Is there away by to tell the year by looking at the guitar?

I'd bet that 71 is the correct memory. Japanese tele copies were barely appearing in 67/68- National came out with one by Kasuga in 69 or 69, and it was crude, with a misshapen headstock and weird bridge saddles. By the time 71 rolled around, all the factories were making teles, and they had gotten much better at it- these were the copies that eventually so worried Fender because some of them were more true to Leo's originals in feel than what CBS-Fender was able to produce at a much higher price, leading them by the 80's to abandon US production and license Fujigen to majufacture official Fender guitars.

He's right about that old white poly yellowing with age, it does so amazingly, you'd think they were sprayed that way (until you take off the pickguard and see the tan lines)

These are really cool guitars capable of being set up to be really good players. They also sound very good.

Got any pictures of yours to share?
