Anyone know Kawai?

Certainly one of the players in early japanese guitars. Does anyone here know the brand well, history, details? I seem to recall 'Kawai made Kawai guitars' i.e. they weren't made by Matt, Fujigen, Kasuga or Terada? Is that true?

I'd love to hear from anyone who knows this brand well- as well as Teisco and any of the other early pioneers.

I don't think I've heard of them. Doesn't "kawai" translate to "cute?" I think so. "Kowai" translates to "scary." hehe

As you can see, this is a 1969 Kawai EP-300 hollowbody jazz archtop guitar "from the collection of guitar historian and journalist Michael Wright."

Any serious guitar person should be familiar with Mr. Wright and his many articles.
