Hello all

My name is Chris and I'm a newbie. First post. I'm trying to authenticate a guitar on craigslist. It's a sunburst strat model. He lists it as having a H-S-S pup configuration. I searched some catalogs and only find H-H or S-S-S setups. I'm wondering of this was a original model. If not, could it be an electra neck swap or a pup mod? Here's a pic link. http://images.craigslist.org/1f71281323 ... 661917.jpg Thanks for any replies.

Well, that's a pretty blurry photograph... but I think it could be one of the newer Crate/Electras like this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/CRATE-ELECTRA-SUNBU ... 240%3A1318

Which has the H/S/S configuration. If it is one of these, you can see by that auction what they are going for, not particularly well regarded. This forum, while not snobby, tends to address the '74-'82 Electras, '83 '84 Phoenix's, and Westones into the mid/late 80's, which are typically very nice instruments at (typically) reasonable prices. Good luck.

...though I do wonder for how much longer!? The prices seem to be creeping ever upward... :(

It's an early Crate Electra, before they went from the phoenix to the generic Crate headstock.
Slightly better than pre-phoenix head models.

Thanks to all who responded. Even thought he guitar is reasonable, $90.00 + drive time and fuel, I am becoming somewhat of a purist and more interested in the more distinguished models. I like different.
Chris

Okay, okay...you caught me over here scoping out the Electra scene. Come on, man. Can you blame me?!? This stuff is addictive.
